Someone paraphrased a Mister Rogers quote for me today and I can’t stop thinking about it. She said, “If it’s mentionable, it’s manageable.”
We were talking about a hard work topic we need to have a discussion about and this rung so true to me when I heard it. The hardest part about difficult problems is often mustering the courage to say the thing in the first place.
I looked up the actual quote later:
“Anything that’s human is mentionable, and anything that is mentionable can be more manageable. When we can talk about our feelings, they become less overwhelming, less upsetting, and less scary. The people we trust with that important talk can help us know that we are not alone.”
