I watched the new show Mech Cadets on Netflix yesterday. The short of it: “Teenager Stanford Yu sets out to become a pilot for one of the Robo Mechs that has come to Earth’s aid following an attack by an alien species.” It’s based on a comic series called Mech Cadet Yu by Greg Pak and Takeshi Miyazawa (that I have not read or heard of before yesterday).
Yes, this show does sound a whole lot like Voltron. That’s why I watched it. I love Voltron, give me some more flavors of it any day. It’s also kind of Pacific Rim and Ender’s Game vibes. Here’s the trailer:
Season 1 is 10 episodes, each each between 20-30 minutes.
I hope it gets renewed, I’m invested now. It had a good amount of heart and it’s funny and there are world-ending stakes and team bonding vibes. It also makes me want to dive into Voltron again once I get all this My Hero Academia out of my system (we’re still kicking).
