So many people don’t make time for the things they love to do.
Leah tells me that. She works at the Writing Center where I spent the middle of my day. I was the only one there besides her, as I often am on the weekends. The busiest weekend for the county and then this oasis.
She says that to me after I tell her what I got done and how excited I was to spend the time here. It’s nice, we agreed, to make that time for ourselves.
I think about all the times I don’t make time to do what I love to do. Beyond the escapism — the shows or the fanfiction or the reading — it feels good to create. Sometimes I hate writing, but also I don’t. It’s not something you do in your free time if you don’t love it. It’s restorative to spend a few hours away from my home in a space dedicated to writing and walls lined with books.
Make time for the things you love to do.
