I discovered I don’t mind long car trips if I can listen to my favorite books. I’m in Madison now, after driving down at the end of my workday. And, just like other solo trips to Madison or Des Moines, I looked forward to my drive so I could listen to a book uninterrupted. I normally do nonfiction for my audiobooks, but car trips are better suited for fiction, preferably fiction I’ve read before.

Today I started A Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue by Makenzie Lee. I’ve read the physical book a few times (who doesn’t love a historical queer adventure romp around Europe?), so I can just lean into the story vibes and drive. (But really this book is so good, in my top ten for sure).

The real reason I’m in Madison is for the new Spider-Man movie, which premiers tomorrow. So, while I am thankful for beautiful fiction, I would have driven all this way in silence. There is little I wouldn’t do for Spider-Man.

With Love,
Natalie
