Last day in Austin.
An early morning meeting where we get stuff done but have so much more to do. But then we head to the Foster Angels luncheon — an annual event supporting a great nonprofit that my boss’s spouse cofounded. When I lived in Austin I used to go every year. The luncheon also gave me the opportunity to see a few other coworkers and have a surprisingly good chicken meal.
Afterward, I hung around the JW Marriot with a few coworkers, talking about work and reflecting before heading back to South Congress for happy hour . . . more coworkers, more talk about work, but also riddles and back-of-the-napkin math that I cannot do.
I really will miss seeing my close work friends this often. There’s something about our old office culture that we’ll never be able to recreate remotely. I wouldn’t change where we’ve gone, but I miss these people. If only I could teleport here. I’d spent more weekends with friends and eating burritos, tacos, and Thunderclouds subs.
Still, I’ll be glad to be back home by tomorrow night. I’ve been on the move for a while, and a longer stretch at home would be welcome.
With Love,
Natalie
