It’s eight pm on Sunday night when I pour myself a glass of wine and think tiredly that maybe I will just go to bed early.

I turn on Netflix to absently browse for a moment and discover that one of my favorite shows just mic dropped a new season a couple of days ago that I knew nothing about. Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Chat Noir is a French animated children’s show about two superheroes who routinely fight ridiculous villainous alter-egos of regular people in order to save Paris. It has a Y7 rating, 3D animation, and life lessons a little narrower than Full House’s emotional range. I am in love with it.

No, seriously, this show is a hilarious, lovely, miracle. I have convinced no one, but luckily the greater community and internet agrees with me because they keep making seasons, are making a Live-Action movie, and the fanfiction archive is steadily growing.

So okay, let me explain for a second. The two main heroes: Marinette as Ladybug and Adrien as Chat Noir fight crime together but do not know each other’s secret identities. Chat Noir/Adrien is in love with Ladybug (who he does not know is Marinette) and Ladybug/Marinette is in love with Adrien (who she does not know is Chat Noir). Can you imagine the hijinks and hilarity this love square produces? It is as good and better than you think.

Oh and just wait until you find out the secret identity of the Big Bad . . .

The discovery of the new season turned my early bedtime into midnight in a snap second . . . and really it’s impressive I left it at that and finished the final four episodes of the season before work this morning.

I’ve said it before, but sometimes it’s just nice to really, really love things. I got so much pleasure from watching this fun animated show, ruining my bedtime, but still jumping up in the morning pumped to start the day with my favorite Parisian superheroes. I had to calm down by scrolling through fanart before work.

With Love,

Natalie
