There are days when time moves slowly and it drags — like the painful ticking of a clock as you wait for the day to be over. But then there are days when time moves slowly and it is a gift. Each moment is stretched to be what you need it to be. There is never a rush and yet the day feels full and whole. Today was a gift like that.
The agenda:
- Breakfast at Alpine. We didn’t have to wait and the food was perfect.
- Hiking at Newport State Park. My favorite route.
- Death’s Door Maritime Museum. Our warm-up to the museum in Sturgeon Bay later this week. We read about shipwrecks and explored an old fishing boat. Also, Door County was named after Death’s Door and that literally never occurred to me until today.
- The Cidery in Ellison Bay — Island Orchard Cider. Quiet and relaxed, we sipped cider outside under the sun.
- A stop at The Main Course in Fish Creek to browse and buy cooking ware.
- A stop at Blacksmith in Egg Harbor to browse clothes.
- The Hatch Distillery. Where, surprise, there was free mead tasting in the backroom from the new meadery that hasn’t been advertised yet and it was excellent. And then enjoying a drink on the patio. The county has been emptying all day and everything is uncrowded.
- Home. To eat leftover pizza and play Mario Kart and Jenga and enjoy some cider and each other’s company into the evening.
A packed day, end to end. Who are we? But although I feel spent now, I loved every luxurious minute.
With Love,
Natalie
