A cool day, in the 50s with intermittent wind, but oh that sun. Clear sky, it was one of those days where sun vs shade felt like ten degrees difference. My dad, in Austin for a long layover, met me for brunch and then we walked over to the Shoal Creek Trail to hike and catch up.

I’ve lived far away from my family for the past decade, but this is one advantage fo having a dad as an airline pilot: in the end, I actually see my family quite a bit and it makes a difference. A good difference.

I’ve always been open with my parents so on our walk my dad and I talk about career and babies and all the other myriad of things I want all at once and am sorting through my priorities and my patience. And we talk about the difference the sun makes and how good it will feel for my whole family to meet again in Maui. Less than three weeks away now.

After the busyness of the past couple of weeks, a few hours on a Sunday with my dad to step out of my head and walk in the city green space was just what I needed.

I hope you too had some time to recharge outdoors this past weekend!

With Love,
