I referenced this in my post yesterday, but this morning I looked up what Glennon Doyle wrote about knowing in her memoir Untamed. It’s a good guidebook:

How to Know: (via Untamed)

1.     Moments of uncertainty arise

2.     Breathe, turn inward, sink

3.     Feel around the knowing

4.     Do the next thing it nudges you toward

5.     Let it stand (don’t explain)

6.     Repeat forever

It’s also a helpful reminder of why meditation or another moment of mindfulness can be so impactful in our lives. We need to create space to hear our thoughts and our hearts. On days like today when I’m back to back meetings I’m painfully aware of how much I need that . . . moments of clarity. It’s also a gentle admonishment to myself for not creating that space for me before work — a run, a walk, a meditation to start the day rather than to fall asleep.

My learning curve is built on reminders. It’s the gentle spiral around the same lessons. Around and around but with a new perspective. Circular, but growing. That’s progress too.

With Love,

Natalie
