I watched Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery this evening with my folks — it premiered on Netflix today (after a weirdly brief stint in theaters earlier this year, Netflix is experimenting with its strategy). We did our traditional Christmas dinner tonight. At least sausage stromboli has been a tradition since 2011 when I came back from studying abroad and requested we make stromboli after having it in Edinburgh. And whatever recipe my mom landed upon is so, so good. The bread . . . perfection. I’m lucky to have leftovers for lunch tomorrow. We’re having an impromptu get-together with a few neighbors tomorrow afternoon so that’s why we moved stromboli and movie night up to tonight.
Anyway, Glass Onion was fantastic. Gripping, funny, well-acted, surprising, and with a nice ‘fuck billionaires’ theme. The whole thing was so . . . satisfying. The cast includes Daniel Craig (reprising his detective role from the first movie), Janelle Monáe, Kate Hudson, Edward Norton, Kathryn Hahn, and Dave Bautista (the latter who we had coincidentally watch in the Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special as Drax earlier in the day). All-star all around.
I’m sure this movie is already on everyone’s list to watch this holiday weekend, but if it’s not bump it to the top. You won’t be disappointed.
With Love,
Natalie
