I love having creative and artistic people in my life. I am pretty anti-crafty myself . . . I don’t think I have the patience for it . . . so I feel so lucky to be around people who not only have patience but have a love for drawing and art. I do love to surround myself with things that make me happy and sometimes that means actual things.

Like the needlepoint of Toothless from How to Train Your Dragon that my friend Cara made for me a few holidays ago. Or the drawing of our college golden trio as characters from Supernatural from my friend Lin (or that other drawing of me as Prince Zuko from Lin . . . how known am I?), or the painting I keep hanging in my closet that my friend Zia did of the two of us back in high school: standing arm in arm at Lambeau field.

And Jenna, whose art and words and soul is everywhere I look. An affirmation print in my office, her “self-care is not selfish” pin on my purse, her homemade heat packs on my bedside table. This weekend I framed and hung a new trio of prints from her in my bedroom, all with stunning yellow. (She runs The Self Care Studio on Etsy and Instagram).

In my year of Create, I’m lucky to have so much love and art created for me.

With Love,

Natalie
