Here’s where I find peace — in the sunshine. A walk to the mailbox. An hour on the balcony. As long as my computer can stand the sun before it screams at me to go inside. The humidity is low at last and I open all the windows.

I find it in the bike ride and closing work out in the sunroom of my parents’ cottage. A Hairy woodpecker and a Blue Jay face off at the suet feeder. A deer wanders in close from the woods. A faun follows.

It feels like late summer and I slip a sweatshirt on to write while the temperature cools and the windows are still open. I write about the autumn colors, running through forest trails. I find peace there.

Name the animals along the road. Make plans for Friday night. Finish a story.

Burn bright where we can. Bring the light.

With Love,

Natalie
