A rare occasion these days, only the four of us. In the bunk room, tearing through homemade stromboli before we even press play. Dune on HBO Max. A movie none of us really know anything about. A long movie for our fidgety family but we make it. No one asks for the subtitles to be turned on so part of the movie I get through on vibes rather than dialogue.
A non-spoiler vibe for Dune: slow panning shots across the desert, Zendaya looking mysteriously at the camera, sandworms that are bigger than you think, Timothée Chalamet. He’s a vibe in himself. Although I rewatched Call Me By Your Name last weekend and Dune is a distinctly different vibe than that.
Part II is slated for 2023.
I wish all movie releases continued to be on streaming as well as in theaters right away. It’s turning out not to be the case but I’m thankful Dune took a different path.
I am still mad about having to go to a theater for Spider-Man. But that’s a December-Natalie problem.
With Love,
Natalie
