A gentle push for those who haven’t watched Encanto (now on Disney+). I finally watched it on New Year’s Day and it was exactly the magic I was expecting from a Disney movie with Lin-Manuel Miranda music.

The official description:

“Encanto tells the tale of an extraordinary family, the Madrigals, who live hidden in the mountains of Colombia, in a magical house, in a vibrant town, in a wondrous, charmed place called an Encanto. The magic of the Encanto has blessed every child in the family with a unique gift from super strength to the power to heal—every child except one, Mirabel. But when she discovers that the magic surrounding the Encanto is in danger, Mirabel decides that she, the only ordinary Madrigal, might just be her exceptional family’s last hope.”

One of my reports was encouraging me to watch it last week and said I reminded her of Luisa. The older sister with super strength. Which was super flattering. And apparently a super callout. Luisa’s song from the movie is definitely my favorite:

My emotions were all fun and games until the last twenty minutes where I just lost it sobbing and didn’t stop until the end. You’ll know the scene. Wow.

Kids’ movies go hard. Worth the watch.

With love,

Natalie
