Easter is a holiday that could pass me by these days, but it became a small occasion anyway this year.
My mom and I attended a small brunch at one of her friend’s places — a recently renovated home right on Lake Michigan. One of those homes where you revel in the tour … and the model ships. And our host really had pulled out all the stops with a exquisitely decorated table and a feast of appetizers and main courses. And champagne (with elderberry liqueur) and red wine.
When we said our goodbye mid-afternoon, my mom and I headed to the Whitefish Dunes for a hike. It was a sunny, almost warm day here (50 degrees!) and we made the most of it even though sections of the trail were still iced over. My shoes were wet since it’s all melting. After this week it may be gone.
My only other Easter “tradition” as an adult is to watch Rise of the Guardians (which I did last night). It’s one of my favorite movies and does take place at Easter. Sadly not streaming anywhere right now but you can rent it on Amazon.
Easter is new beginnings. New life. Easter’s about hope.

So all in all no egg hunts this year, but I did eat a chocolate bunny.
With Love,
