I had a spontaneous, very vacation-in-Door-County kind of day with my Mom today. We started by stopping by the farmer’s market in Bailey’s Harbor and then went hiking at the Dunes and Cave Point. After, we drove to a new restaurant, Thyme, and had a delicious meal outside in a beautiful and very quiet, uncrowded setting. I’ll definitely be going back. And not just because there’s a wine bar next door where we enjoyed a glass of rosé out in the sun with the most ingenious table I’ve ever seen . . . built for holding stemmed wine glasses, so smart.
By that time we made our way back home in Egg Harbor, stopping briefly to tour the new shops in the Cupola Collective. On Sundays, I like to be home by mid/late afternoon so I can settle before the new week. I read, I went on another walk, I watched Joel Kim Booster’s comedy special on Netflix (on my friends’ recommendation, it was very funny).
Now, I tuck myself into bed with some ranch corn nuggets from the farmer’s market to snack on while I read some more.
When I look back at this weekend . . . Shakespeare and kayaking and walking and wine and friends and family and trying to make my own cleaning products somewhere in the middle . . . well, I wish every weekend were a little someone like it. Grateful to be enjoying a Door County summer. We wait all year for days like this.
With Love,
Natalie
