We all need a reminder on how to complete the stress cycle (Remember the book Burnout I loved a while ago — still love). Yesterday I hosted a Lunch & Learn to watch an interview on Ted.com with the authors of Burnout, Emily & Amelia Nagoski. It’s a good crash course if you haven’t read the book.

The takeaway: dealing with your stress is different than dealing with your stressor. You need somewhere for that stress to go to feel relief. Exercise, movement, tensing all your muscles and releasing . . . they all can help.

I put it into practice today and went for a run during lunch and then afterward felt comfortable texting friends about something that brought me stress — their validation and support gave me further relief.

Deal with the stressor. Deal with the stress. Do both.

Then go read Burnout.
