It’s not every day one of your players texts you before the session and asks that you kill off his character . . . and to make it a surprise for everyone. Which is sad because we’re losing a player and stressful because you have to figure out how to kill someone and make it narratively satisfying but also funny because wow were people surprised. Especially when that character role plays their last thought of being one of regret at not seeing their son (who they never mentioned before and did so now just for the drama).
One of our players was taking screenshots of our reactions to it happening and then the moment when the player left the Zoom room without warning at the minute of his ‘death’. A true Irish goodbye.
So an eventful D&D session all around, that ended with a much lighter shopping trip to a potion shop called Jitter Juice.
