It’s D&D Sunday again! We started a new campaign two weeks ago that we are playing biweekly on Sunday nights. It’s a beginner campaign — most of us don’t have much (or any) D&D experience but we’re learning together. Lin is kindly DM’ing for the Ghosts of Salt Marsh campaign where I’m playing Calder (Cal) Whitecliff — a 19 y/o who recently lost his parents and inherited his mother’s town council seat. He’s sad, he’s rich, he has a sword, he’s one of my favorite tropes.

Tonight we picked up where we left up last time: in the midst of battle with steam mephits (or imps) that attacked from a fountain in the middle of a lavish party. Despite a rather poor showing from Cal (although he did land one hit at the end after rounds of flailing his rapier) our new party defeated the monsters . . . and then promptly discovered a new horror: a freshly dead body on the beach that appeared to have been pushed from the party scene off the cliffs.

We’ll pick up the mystery a month from now, post-holidays. But it feels so good to be playing and practicing this game. And it’s something to look forward to on Sunday evenings which historically have been tough for me in anticipation of the work week ahead.

Everyone go learn to play D&D and let’s play all the time.

With Love,

Natalie
