I’m shopping for warmer clothes for the first time in long time (those Labor Day sales), starting with running gear to get me ready for fall. The first week of September and the weather is already cooling.
But it’s been six years since I’ve had a true four seasons, and I’m not worried at all. If anything, this first year will seem like a bit of a novelty.
I haven’t been apple picking in ages. Or kicked a pile of leaves into the air. Or seen the November winds make the waves tall as can be. Or worn winter books. Or made a fire in the hearth and sit with my back to it until my skin itches from the heat.
I want to sit in the hot tub when it’s ten degrees outside and let it warm my core for hours after. I want to learn how to cross country ski again or try snowshoeing or at least run, run, run outside all year long.
I’ve been so happy to be up in Door County for most of summer, but now that fall is knocking I am looking forward to the full seasons. Or at least, looking forward to the quiet up here as the seasonal residents slowly slip away after Labor Day.
Here’s to cooler days ahead.
With Love,
Natalie
