My time is an oscillation between
Lists and lists that I check off diligently
And dishes in the sink with clothes on the floor
Weekly resets
Where the cat hair is removed from the carpet
Or daily ones
Like walking to the mailbox
Just to breathe and stop the orders from the screen

I believe in candles lit all day
And music when you need to activate your brain
And jumping jacks in the living room

I believe in hydration
And real lunches
And how I pay for every neglect
With headaches and wanting to sleep
Without having to go to sleep

My time swings wildly between
Conversations where I am “on”
And closing every tab open just to think
Preaching focus
Rereading old lessons
I don’t want more seconds in the hours
I want more hours not counting seconds

We hold so many contradicting truths on our heart
Here is one mine
I want every piece of the puzzle
And
I don’t want a puzzle at all
Just the lakes
And the quiet words
That come to me
When I look up at the stars

With Love,
Natalie
