I’m in Canada! I arrived in Toronto yesterday for my first visit to Canada. The connections here are threefold:

  • One, visiting and staying with family friends (Lori & Rob) in Oakville.
  • Two, meeting my mom here for the long weekend.
  • Three, one of my best friends — Jenna — is in Toronto for training and is also staying with Lori & Rob.

This was a mix of planning and happenstance that allows me to get away from Texas to experience some truly fall weather (today, that meant rainy with the occasional bluster), spend quality time with my mom and Lori, and catch up in the evenings with Jenna. Jenna and I are sharing a room and last night we whispered life updates until we couldn’t keep our eyes open. And then fought over the covers most of the night.

I hold onto this gratitude — the time off from work, the financial means, and the intersecting paths of people important to me that allowed me to travel and spend this time in Canada. These are the types of trips I want to prioritize; spending time with people I love. If courage and connection are my values, this is way to live my values . . . all while eating good food, having some wine, doing a little shopping, and spending time hiking and running in the cool outdoors.

With Love,

Natalie
