Color me yellow
In olive jean shorts and black tank top
Hair dried by the perfect heat
All my outlines are tinted in sunshine
There’s a meditation
Where you imagine light pouring in
Through the top of your head
Filling your body from toes to crown
With warmth and peace
There’s another where you start with
That same light in a ball
In the center of your chest
Watch it expanding outwards
Until it is you, until it is beyond you
There are days when you don’t need
To imagine the light
Because it is there
Drowning you with sweat on a run
Letting you read with shoulders bare
On the lanai, unchilled
Making it easy to remember that
While there is so, so much to do in life
That the top of that list is to experience it
As joyously as we can muster
As quietly and unhurriedly as we can dare
Color me yellow
So that when I bite my lip red
Or feel my heart going black
There is always light at the edges
A shield, a reminder, a way home
With Love,
Natalie
