My trash draft deadline (agreed upon with my friend Lin, who’s also finishing a first draft of a novel) is this Friday, May 10th. An arbitrary deadline, but one I’m trying to take seriously.

Writing Update: A Look at the Numbers
Inevitably if people find out you’re working on a novel (and I’m not necessarily being shy about it be posting internet updates each week) they ask what you’re going to do with it i.e. are you going to publish it?

Writing Update: New Tools
Writing Update Tuesday. Spending the last few days in a cabin in the woods sent my friends and me down a myriad of rabbit hole topics. As one of these friends, Lin, is also my writing accountability partner we also talked a lot about writing, our writing, others writing, publishing, and the works.
Writing Update: Progress is Progress
I’m making it a habit of writing about writing on Tuesdays. It’s been two weeks of writing at least a sentence of fiction every day. My accountability trick has worked since I’ve always written more than a sentence … the first one is the hardest. The last one is hard to pick so I’ll write another and another until I’m satisfied and the plot has moved another 200 words.

Writing Plan Brainstorm
In my year of Create my primary goal has been to write more. Not only this blog – a daily exercise to get words on the page – but fiction. I set up an accountability check with my friend where we send every two weeks . . . and I wrote about all this a few weeks ago already.
But my last accountability check was such a poor showing I clearly need to make a new game plan for writing fiction if I am committed to writing fiction. This morning I need a space to brainstorm a plan.
