If you haven’t heard the news, Door County Candle Company started a fundraiser with a special Ukrainian-themed candle with 100% of profits going to Razom for Ukraine. It kind of blew up. The owner (and my neighbor) is Ukrainian-American and has been on major news outlets, including the Today Show this morning.
So I’ve been volunteering all morning, manning the phones mostly to answer questions and help people place orders in this unprecedented volume. It’s been kind of wild, but really validating and energizing.
Multiple people have cried with me. This one old Ukrainian woman who lives in Wisconsin called and told me about her family and how she’s the last full Ukrainian left after her siblings passed. People have been so grateful for this chance to do something and make an impact. And I’m glad for the opportunity too. It feels like a tangible thing to do to help, no matter how small.
