I saw Brandi Carlile tonight in Madison with my friends. I don’t go to many (any?) concerts but she’s one of the few artists I would actually seek out and I’m so glad I got to see her live. Her voice is . . . out of this world at times. And she performs with so much joy. Plus any bad with a string quartet with them on stage . . . *chef’s kiss*.

I always thought her song “The Story” was what most people would know her for — it’s an older song but one I’ve heard many times. However, I guess “The Joke” comes to mind for most people. I’m told her Grammy performance of it is life-changing:

Her most recent album, In These Silent Days, has my favorites. Like “You and Me on the Rock” and “Right on Time”.

I also really like her song “Carried Me With You” that’s on the Pixar movie Onward’s album (thought that wasn’t on her set list this evening).

She ended her show with an incredible encore covering “Live and Let Die” and “We Are The Champions” — chills.

With Love,
Natalie
