There are so many reasons to see the Barbie movie, and one of them is to see Ryan Gosling in this sweatshirt:
Greta Gerwig delivered as promised. Barbie was funny, nostalgic, and beautifully fuck the patriarchy through and through. There are so many ways to misstep in a project like this but from my seat it was beautifully executed. It made me feel alive. It made me cry. And laugh so much — that final line. . .
As a reminder this is rated PG-13 and not a kids movie. Kids would probably be fine but the majority of jokes would go over their head and it wouldn’t be much fun. This is a story meant for adults who grew up on Barbie and all the empowerment and baggage that comes with that.
Also the soundtrack absolutely slaps. Let’s go Barbie.
