I had one of those beautiful Sundays today, both productive and restful in equal measure.

I think it helped that I started my day with a 2-hour Baby-Care class from Baby Academy at 8:30 this morning. This was a free class of newborn basics taught by a great instructor who is a midwife and nurse (and has been for thirty years). She covered eight newborn care topics including how to bathe your baby, how to care for their skin and nails, how to dress them, how to change a diaper, and how to care for the umbilical cord.

I found it all really valuable, despite my rabbit holes of YouTube where I’ve heard about many of these topics before. There’s something different about hearing them put together cohesively, demonstrated on a baby doll for us to see, and taught by an actual medical professional rather than a mommy vlogger.

It was practical and informative and well worth a 2-hour commitment for any soon-to-be parents.

That set the whole day off on the right foot as I continue to get ready (5 weeks until the estimated due date, apparently baby is the size of a George Foreman Grill) (Though we have a friendly betting pool and I’ve got my money a week earlier than that, we’ll see). In my loads of laundry today I washed the baby clothes and crib sheets I have so they’ll be fresh for travel in a few weeks and cleared out the rest of the drawers in the nursery so there’s plenty of storage space.

My day also included a walk, grocery shopping, lots of D&D content (both Nadpodd and Dimenson20 and some YouTube DM tips), and actually playing Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild for a couple of hours after an eight-month break (oops — I actually do have to something every day or I forget about it).

Here’s to a new month, only a few hours away.

With Love,
Natalie
