I spent an inordinate amount of time hunting down a few lines I read this morning from the final Raven Cycle book, The Raven King. I lost the lines within the pages but I’ve thought about it all day. I find it, finally, tucked into a transition in the scene, simple, not one of the famous quotes from the series, but it strummed something bright and beautiful and devastating within me that moved me to tears. I was maudlin with it all the way to work:
“It was such a throwaway sound now, that laugh. An easy one that said it could be spent so easily because there were more where that one came from. The wound was healing against all odds; the victim would make it after all.”
The wound was healing against all odds. The victim would make it after all.
It’s a miracle, how much we heal. Yes, how much we can bear and fight and endure and survive but so much more that we become light, and scarred, and that we breathe, and that we are caught in happiness again.
A laugh easily spent because there are more where that one came from.
That’s all today. That’s all.
With Love,
Natalie
Great quote! Glad you found it. 🙂
