Zia and I both had Monday off today before we go back to remote work tomorrow. We packed as much in as possible — and the sun finally came out to stay after a few rainy, rainy days. The agenda included shopping in Sister Bay, brunch at Al Johnson’s, a short hike at Ellison Bluff lookout, and then a long hike up at Newport State Park. We spent the end of the hike walking back along the beach with our feet in the water, the sun glistening off of a calm Lake Michigan.
People don’t really understand if they’ve never been to the Great Lakes. But then they see the endless surface, a freshwater ocean at your feet, and they do understand. There’s nothing like it.
On the drive back down the peninsula, we stopped at a cidery for a drink and then had dinner in Egg Harbor at the Harbor View Grill — a restaurant that has (as its name suggests) a rooftop overlook of the harbor below.
The combination of good food and fresh air and the lovely company has me exhausted in the best of ways. We’re spending the evening watching Ted Lasso (which I highly, highly recommend).
I love full, happy days like these. Again, feels like summer.
With Love,
Natalie
