My favorite way to wake up is to thunder in the early hours. Rain patters on the bedroom window on a Sunday morning. I have nowhere to be but in bed, listening, counting the seconds between lightning and it’s echo rolling across the sky.

I hear the small rivers of water gather in the parking lot while I spend an hour reading in the low light. I sip caffeine and dream of staying in this cacoon all day. Rainstorms are the perfect permission. I moved south for the sun, but I love stormy weekends. Everthing is bigger in Texas, thunder included.

I take a moment to feel grateful for the natural ebb and flow, for the changing pace of my days, for the plenty to do and the moments to breathe. And for rainstorms. I am grateful for the rain.

With Love,

Natalie
