I had my seven-year workiversary at my job this week and today we had our annual Pluggies celebration (celebrating CareerPlug’s birthday, the company is now 14 years old).

For all the ups and downs, I’ve been very lucky to work and grow at this company. So seven years . . . here are seven things memories, in no particular order:

  1. Eating Pizza Hut on the office floor on a Saturday with a coworker after redecorating the office.
  2. Giving an unprompted speech on gratiude to the company and forcibly taking over our company meetings.
  3. Messing up . . . and being afforded the trust to try again.
  4. Having my own office for the first time and decaling this quote on the wall: Always be a little kinder than necessary.
  5. Getting a haircut before my first official leadership annual planning meeting.
  6. Feeling safe in the office at a time when I didn’t have a safe place.
  7. Winning that first Mario Kart tournament. Yeah, I’m going to keep bringing it up.

There are so many more. Big moments. Small moments. Growth and tears. There’s still a lot of that. But I couldn’t have asked for a better team and better support these last seven years.

We get an award each year for our Pluggies, a fun superlative. Here’s mine this year: Most likely to smile satisfyingly at her own song choices at the top of a company meeting.

I started DJ-ing a song at the top of our all-hands meetings this last year . . . it’s probably the most anxiety-producing moment of my week (music? that’s not Taylor Swift?). But I’m glad I can play it off with a smile

We had a virtual party this afternoon where I participated in a virtual murder mystery game and I got to hang out with some coworkers I don’t see all the time. That almost makes up for the fact that we lost. Still — would play again.

With Love,

Natalie
