We’re a quarter into a new year of reading! I set my goal lower this year to 100 books (the 168 last year was fun, but I decided to chill a little bit). I am exactly on track right now, mostly due to a pretty severe (and fun) fanfiction binge early in this quarter. I do wish I was reading more fiction right now and hopefully I can balance out my reading this next quarter. I definitely was a little heavier on audiobooks (and audiobooks about running); easy to do when I run while listening and was training for my half marathon most of the quarter.

Breakdown:

  • 16 audiobooks, all nonfiction
  • 9 physical books, all fiction
  • 7 books about running
  • 7 books with queer protagonists

Looking at my list I read some really good books these past few months. I’m going to list them with a blanket recommendation and highlight a couple of the true standouts.

  • Eat, Pray, Love by Elisabeth Gilbert (How did it take me so long to read this? I get the hype.)
  • Loki: Where Mischief Lies by Mackenzi Lee
  • Reborn on the Run by Catra Corbett
  • Everything is Figureoutable by Marie Forleo
  • Chief Joy Officer by Richard Sheridan
  • These Shallow Graves by Jennifer Donnelly
  • Rock Needs River by Vanessa McGrady
  • This is Marketing by Seth Godin
  • Juliet Takes a Breath by Gabby Rivera
  • The Road to Character by David Brooks
  • Committed by Elisabeth Gilbert
  • King of Scars by Leigh Bardugo
  • North by Scott Jurek (Ultra-runner Scott Jurek attempts the fastest known time running the north on the Appalachian trail)
  • All for the Game Trilogy by Nora Sakavic (a team-as-family, surprisingly violent, queer enemies-to-lovers blessing)
  • Running with the Buffaloes by Chris Lear (follows a college cross country team for an incredible season)
  • Range by David Epstein
  • Born to Run by Christopher McDougall (this is one of the best non-fiction books I’ve ever read, riveting . . . just read it)
  • 26 Marathons by Meb Keflezighi
  • Ziggy, Stardust & Me by James Brandon (I wrote a whole gushing post about this one already)
  • Stillness is the Key by Ryan Holiday
  • What I Talk About When I Talk About Running by Haruki Murakami
  • Eat & Run by Scott Jurek
  • Tell Me How You Really Feel by Aminah Mae Safi

With Love,

Natalie
