My ninth Pluggie Award (pictured below). It is our annual tradition at my workplace to give these out every summer, around CareerPlug’s birthday (which happens to be my birthday too). It started with our founder writing “most likely to” awards for everyone but once we got past fifty employees that task was passed to managers. I write the pluggies for my team, often with input from their peers and friends.

My first Plugglie, back in 2015, was “Most likely to change her lunch plans at random at the sight of a grilled cheese food truck”. Based on actual events.

Nine pluggies for nine years (my actual workiversary is coming up again in a couple of weeks). I have all the Pluggies on display on a corkboard behind my desk. You can see it on zoom calls and it’s often a conversation started when I interact with people outside the company.

I like this tradition, even as it’s evolved from individually presenting each award to simply having them on display. So much has changed in the time I’ve been working there, but this still feels like we’re a small team again. Handwritten awards on outlet covers personalized for us. A little way to be known.

With Love,

Natalie
